Experience the Joy of Being a Dog Owner Again!

Hold Your Own "Scaredy Dog!" Seminar

So…your dog lunges, salivates, growls, and barks at strangers, bikes or other dogs? Not sure how to handle this?

Or perhaps you’re a trainer and have come upon such a dog in your classes. What to do?

How do I run a class for reactive dogs?

If you have questions (or dogs) like this, then this seminar is for you! Based on my book, “Scaredy Dog! Understanding and Rehabilitating Your Reactive Dog,” this full-day (8-hour) seminar addresses the concept of Reactivity and teaches trainers and dog-training clubs how to run classes for reactive dogs. The seminar is also wonderfully informative and supportive for owners of reactive dogs.

Seminars typically take place on Saturdays, with Sundays available for private consultations for people who attended the seminar and the option for qualified trainers to observe these consultations.

The outline for the seminar is as follows:

9:00 -10:30 AM Define Reactivity
Discuss stress hormones, genetics, socialization, etc

10:45-12:15 Teach skills necessary for participation in a reactive dog class -- why use a clicker, targeting, focus, car behavior, tricks. Describe class structure. Show DVD containing footage of actual classes.

1:15-2:00   Reactive class, session 1

2:15-3:00   Reactive class, session 2

3:15-4:30   Discuss class structure

Scheduling

Seminars can also be scheduled on Sundays. Or make this a full-weekend opportunity by running reactive classes for a full second day.

One Day Seminar fee: $850 plus travel and expenses. Fees for Private Consultations or Reactive Classes are in addition to the seminar fees.

Good Dog Agility. It took place at an elementary school in Chandler Arizona. The afternoon sessions (shown here) were held in the school's all-purpose room. The class session took place in the media room so we could show video of some of our classes held in Allentown.

Attendance is limited only by the size of the room; there will be a limit of 5 attending dogs. I MUST screen these dogs prior to being accepted as working dogs for the seminar.
